Created by teenagers, for teenagers, Daydream is all about creativity, collaboration and fun. It runs once a year, and this year was the biggest yet, taking place simultaneously in over 100 cities worldwide! London alone welcomed over 100 students to the event, of all experience levels!
“I proved to myself that learning under pressure, collaborating with others, and taking risks is exactly how you grow.” – Participant and Ada student.
Among the highlights? An impressive 96 pizzas delivered to our London campus, plus donuts, mini sandwiches, candyfloss, and more, all free for attendees.
Spencer McKnight (safeguarding lead on the London team) was able to chat with us about the event.
She told us that the day kicked off with the traditional opening ceremony, after which the participants split up to take part in workshops and game-making sessions using the Gadot platform.
One of the standout features of the event was the Daydream Portal, which allowed teams to connect live with students in cities across the world, like St Augustine, Cambridge and Valencia, sharing ideas and progress in real time.
Throughout the day, students gained hands-on experience with tools like GitHub and Itch.io, shipping their games and uploading their code as part of the submission process. Every student who completed and shipped a game earned a custom-designed t-shirt, thanks to HQ team member Ren Ren.
Students built everything from puzzle games and pie games to visual novels. Each location then ended the day with a vote for the winning game, and the winners will go on to compete globally.
We’re also looking forward to welcoming back some of the students involved to our upcoming sixth form open evenings!
