The theatreworks team developed and led a suite of masterclasses and workshops at Ada, to give students the confidence needed to ace the highly competitive apprenticeship recruitment process.
Students worked on public speaking and mastering “stage presence,” looked at body language, how to project authority, and how to properly assess situations and stay adaptable.
It was useful to go back to basics like posture and voice and look at the small details that we have to build up to be an effective public speaker.
Building these soft skills is a core part of our curriculum, and key in preparing our students for their future tech careers. It’s one thing to be a great coder, but it’s another to be a great communicator. Seeing our students apply these theatrical techniques in communication, collaboration and adaptability to their already exciting knowledge and skills in tech was amazing to watch.
