Across the three days, visiting year 11 students embraced all sorts of challenges and opportunities, from coding and career workshops to innovation challenges and mock interviews.
Here’s a breakdown of how the days went:
Day 1: Code & Careers
We started the week with ‘Human Bingo’, and just as the name suggests, it had everyone up on their feet, laughing, and learning surprising facts about each other!
We then jumped into a ‘Desert Island Survival Challenge,’ where teams had to work together, think creatively, and make quick decisions, all while developing the kind of soft skills that shine in assessment centres.
After the warm-ups, students dived into an interactive coding session, building and testing their own games while adding their own unique features. Next came a hands-on CV workshop, where they learned how to craft personal summaries and structure CVs designed to stand out in the tech industry.
The day ended on an inspiring note with a Q&A session with our Ada Degree Apprentices, who shared their journeys and advice.
Day 2: Innovation & Skills
Building on the excitement of Day 1, the second day was all about innovation and practical skill-building.
The morning began with a ‘Build Your Own App’ workshop, where students brought forward creative and ambitious ideas. The focus then turned to professional growth with an interview skills session, where students received practical advice before putting it straight into action through peer interview practice.
After lunch, the momentum continued with a hands-on coding revision session, allowing students to strengthen their computer science knowledge while having fun applying their skills.
Day 3: Application & Real-World Practice
The final day focused on applying everything the students had learned in real-world scenarios.
The morning began with a collaborative revision session, helping students embed their learning and test their understanding. From there, they moved into mock interviews, putting their new communication and professional skills into practice and building confidence for the future.
Then, after a well-deserved lunch break, students joined a session with Tina, enjoyed some independent coding time and ended the bootcamp with an exciting Dragon’s Den-style pitch session with CISCO, showcasing their ideas, teamwork, and creativity in front of industry professionals.
The week was filled with learning, collaboration, and fun and a fantastic reminder of what makes our Ada community so special!
